R&D Vision Scientist


You will be part of the world leader R&D organisation in Photochromic Technology. You will be


responsible for designing and conducting applied research in the area of vision science and


photochromic technology to define and validate the requirements of new products.





Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute applied research in the area of vision science and photochromic technology, including but not only in-lab experiments and in-house studies.
  • Contribute to the definition of the goals and objectives of clinical studies.
  • Analyse, summarize and present the latest innovations in the ophthalmic/optical sector into business-oriented insights.
  • Contribute to the processing, based on scientific insights, of competitor and market data.
  • Work together with the leadership team in R&D to define priorities and contribute to the innovation roadmap.
  • Manage the network of collaborations with scientific institutions.
  • Collaborate efficiently and cross-functionally.
  • Prepare and present results in international conferences and internal meetings.
  • Interpret, document and effectively communicate test results.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of work completed.



Key Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Optometry, Physics or similar technical field with a minimum of 3 years industry experience.
  • Experience working in R&D environments and translating theoretical concepts into new products.
  • Self-initiative and have ability to communicate experimental and theoretical concepts to both technical peers and upper management.
  • Hands-on with laboratory work and process development.
  • Able to work as a part of the team, and develop strong work relationships.
  • Understanding of photochromic technology.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Experience writing patent applications.



Desirable
  • Experience in the ophthalmic/optical sector.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of applied optics.
  • Computer programming (i.e. python).
  • Experience with Design Control for New Product Development.
